Someone offers you candy and you’re like “Oh no, I don’t like that”. First of all, that’s a bit rude. You might be hurting the feelings of the other person. Why not just be grateful for the gesture?
Giving thanks for everything in your life seems like a easy task, yet we forget to do it, or we don’t do it as often as we should. Often times we focus our energy on what we don’t like about our job, our lives, even things we don’t like about ourselves. I think we focus on the glass being half empty. We pay attention to things that aren’t absolutely perfect. I mean, what is perfection anyway? It’s only your perception and you’re letting your ego get in the way.
We constantly think and voice what we don’t like and then wonder why we can’t catch a break. Well, I’ll have to be bluntly honest with you: Whatever you don’t like and complain about, you’re going to get more of it!!!! I’m guilty of that too and I’m working hard everyday to change that. Sometimes I catch myself complaining and I have to virtually slap myself out of it and focus on the positive things that I like about that situation instead.
Just remember, everything happens for reason. We have struggles in our lives and that’s just an opportunity to find a solution and become stronger. If you know people that are really negative, that’s your chance to either fix the relationship or distance yourself from those people. If the job you have is unpleasant and there’s nothing good about it, then maybe it’s time to look for a new job.
Whatever you do, just stop focusing on what you DON’T want.
If you want to paint a better picture of your life then start expressing gratitude for what you do have. Make it a daily habit by thinking of 10 things you’re grateful for before you go to sleep. Make it an hourly ritual by saying thanks to everything that comes your way.
Express gratitude for the opportunities you get in life. Be thankful for the people you have around you. Be thankful for everything you have achieved so far because it’s a result of your hard work, blood, sweat and tears. Embrace it because you deserve it:)
If someone gives you a gift, don’t say “I don’t need that”. Be thankful for it. It’s the thought that counts.
Know that being grateful for things opens you up to a higher level of energy that will attract amazing things in your life. You will feel better, you’ll make others feel better and you’ll create a better world all around you. Envision the things you want to have and you’ll see them appearing one by one. Be appreciative for the life you have while always striving for more.
I wish you a happy 2017 and I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with you through my writing.
